Journal 12: Chapter Five Pre-reading Activities

1.) When I think about the word review, I think of a personal opinion of a product or item that is being sold. There are many reviews on sites, newspapers, magazines, and books. The reviews are most likely written as if it is given one star it is bad and they wouldn't recommend you to buy it. But if it is given all five stars they one hundred percent recommend the product. The reviews I often hear or read are on movies, when they are trying to get you to watch it because it is the best movie of all year. What I think will be challenging for me to write a review is probably how to cite it into my essay. Or maybe what type of product I will want to review and if it will be interesting to others.

2.) After searching the internet, I've found that most of the reviews are personal opinions. Some of the reviews can be exaggerated whether it is positive or negative. What can make the reviews engaging is that we want to know what others think before we actually buy the product. Also by how many types of reviews it has, either negative or positive.

3.) The purpose for reviews is to inform the reader or the person interested on the product that Is being sold or advertised. It helps with schoolwork and academic writing because this is where we get to see different opinions and thoughts about a certain topic or product. As well as you learn how to evaluate and use background information to back your opinion.
